New Mexico History:
New Mexico entered the 1920's with lots of energy. New Mexico granted women the right to vote in an amendment in 1920 and we were all enjoying prosperity.
Railroads brought tourists in great numbers and the Southwestern Indian Detours transported tourists by car to pueblos and other natural wonders, such as Carlsbad Caverns.
Artists and writers also discovered New Mexico and began to develop groups which flourished in the New Mexico culture.
The discovery of oil in the Permian basin of southeastern New Mexico in 1924 created a very lucrative industry. Oil field workers came in and created boomtowns, one of which was Hobbs located in the southeast part of the state. Autos now challenged the railroads as the nation's primary means of transportation. Modern highways sprang up criss-crossing the nation. One of these was the modern Route 66 which was authorized in 1926.
Although many increased their wealth, great numbers of rural farmers and ranchers barely survived. Most New Mexicans were so poor that they barely noticed when the Great Depression began in 1929.

Busy Weel at Ranch Supply

Boy, what a week! Jimmy has been very busy cleaning up around the store. He has talked about it for a long time but just never got around to it. Can't say that anymore. It is amazing just how big the back lot is behind the store.
This was also a week when we lost two very good friends at Ranch Supply. Mike Bonds passed away last week and yesterday Flo Latham passed on. We will surely miss these good people and want to extend our condolences to their families.
Well the fair came and went and from all accounts was very successful. Thanks to everyone who participated in this year's fair. We are very proud of all those kids that worked so hard to get to the fair and ultimately the sale. Good luck at Roswell and State Fair to those going on with their animals.
We have also received several orders this week which we have been expecting for a while. We now have our children Wranglers back in stock and today we received our kids Roper boots. We have a full range of sizes in both of these items.
If you are looking for a gift idea, come by and check out our Southwestern Soaps and Lotions that are made in Angel Fire, New Mexico. There are four scents to choose from and they are all great.
We also received our jewelry from Cowboy Collectibles which is made from horsehair. We have chokers, bracelets and key chains. Come by and let us show these to you.

2011 Quay County Fair

Just wanted to remind everyone that this weekend is the 2011 Quay County Fair. Most of the shows will have taken place by now but Saturday has several activities which will appeal to everyone, from a pet show parade, goat roping, to miniature bull riding which is a new event this year. Please try to make some of the events on Saturday as lots of time and effort have gone into providing these activities for us. Most importantly, don't forget the livestock sale which starts around 6:00 p.m. Saturday. The kids who made it to the sale have worked really hard to get their animals into top shape and your support will allow them to continue next year. Make plans now to show your support for the kids of Quay County who have worked so hard by attending the livestock sale on Saturday.

Also, please continue to pray for rain as we desperately need the moisture.

Boy does time keep on marching by. I can't believe the last post was done in January, 2011. Tucumcari Ranch Supply is beginning to get spring fever. We have started to get in some of our spring/summer merchandise. The greenhouse will be opening on the first of April, 2011 and who isn't ready for these warm days with blue skies and green grass and trees.

If you haven't been into Tucumcari Ranch Supply recently, come by and check out the bbq shack. We have added some items to the menu and it is now enclosed so that those wonderful spring breezes aren't quite so hard to handle.

Don't forget about the meat market when you start thinking about grilling those burgers and steaks. We offer some wonderful rib eye steaks and some awesome burgers which cook up fast and taste great.

Fall is Here!

I want to welcome fall to Tucumcari and Quay County. I absolutely love this season with its cooler mornings and evenings, and warm days. Perfect!

Things are changing inside Tucumcari Ranch Supply also. We are putting up the summer items and bringing out the cool weather items from hoodies and vests to candles with scents like "spicy pumpkin" and "grandma's kitchen". We will start receiving fall/winter merchandise shortly but first we have to find a place to put it.

Because the weather is changing, don't forget about Burt's Bees lip balms and hand lotions. We also carry a full line of hand and body lotions for that skin that will soon be needing some extra moisture.

We still have a few pairs of jeans on closeout and we also have a good selection of close out boots from Southwest Merchantile. If you are looking for either, come by and check out the remaining inventory. The selection is getting a little slimmer, but the deals are awesome.

We have pumpkins in stock for those with an artistic bend in good sizes for both carving and fall decorating. Come by and check these out.

Don't forget our meat market. We carry lots more than just burgers and steaks. Although we do think we have the best of both of these items. We carry catfish fillets, shrimp, fajita meat (chicken/beef), turkey, local grass fed beef and much, much more.

We will be happy to show your our selections.

We also have shower selections for Ryan and Brittni Maddaford. We will wrap and deliver your gifts to the shower if you want us to.

I also want to remind you that we carry a full line of winterizing products to help with these chores for getting ready for cold weather. We carry fertilizer, pipe wraps and insulation, heat tapes in various sizes and pesticides for those little critters looking for a winter home.

Well time is on the march once again. Where did the month of August go? September is well on its way as well. Oh well, it is what it is.

There are several new items at TRS. We have received a new supply of our made in New Mexico products. Come by and check out the Red and Green Chili peanut brittle from Leslie's Candy. We now have a full selection of soups and dips from Desert Gardens as well. We also now have more of those sweet jalapenos which have been so popular.

We put out a new shipment of jewelry from Cindy Smith which is awesome. There are so many styles and colors which will coordinate so nicely with all those fall items we are looking at bringing out.

We also are roasting Hatch green chilies at the store. The smell is awesome as they are being roasted. So far interest has been great.

Congrats to the Rattlers for their big win at Homecoming, 2010. Awesome job guys. We are so proud of you.

Don't forget that this weekend is the annual Mesalands College Rodeo. Be sure to make plans to go out and support our college rodeo team. We have several good contenders representing Mesalands. Give them your support.

The Friday performance will start at 6:00 p.m.; slack is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and the Championship Performance will start at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is very reasonable at $5 for adults; children and seniors 55/over is $2.

Well, I can't believe that it's already time to go back to school. Where did this summer go? Seems like only yesterday the grands were begging to go swimming every day.

Let's hope that the excitement and energy of this first week lasts all year long.

We have received a new selection of John Deere boots for children and also have restocked our Roper boots for children also. Come by and check out the new styles and colors be have to offer.

We also have brought in new candles made in Cimarron, New Mexico. There are several scents we have never carried before. These are two wick candles that burn clean with a subtle scent.

We also now have products offered by JX Ranch located in the Quay Valley. This is all natural beef which is very lean. We have had good sales and positive response from our customers who have been looking for lean, all natural beef. We carry hamburger meat, roasts and steak. Come by and check this out.

We also want to remind our customers that we offer several animal health products. We are also adding new items in this department. Call or come by and check these out before you go out of town looking for animal health products.

We also want to invite you to attend the annual Mesalands college rodeo which is coming up shortly. We were very fortunate to have a national winner this past summer. Competition is tough and the college needs our support and encouragement. Please make plans now to attend.

New Arrivals at TRS

Tucumcari Ranch Supply is now expanding our meat market in order to bring in a greater selection of meat products to our customers. For those health conscious individuals we are now carrying buffalo burgers, ground turkey in one pound packages and seasoned chicken breasts.
For those interested in specialty meats, we now have barbacoa, tripe, pigs feet and tongue. This is in addition to the hamburger, steaks and ribs which we have offered in the past.

We have also increased our selections of New Mexico products which include El Pinto salsas and sauces from Albuquerque; salsas from Santa Fe Ole; peanut butter from Portales; soups and dips from Desert Gardens in Albuquerque; and chile powders and other products from Bueno in Albuquerque; pistachios from Alamogordo; and don't forget those hot suckers and peanut patties from Leslie's Candies in Clovis. We are always on the lookout for new products made in New Mexico. If you know of something, please let us know.

We are also looking into products which will appeal to those health conscious people which carry the organic or all natural labels. If there is something you would like for us to check into for you, please contact us and let us know.

NewHappenings at Tucumcari Ranch Supply

Tucumcari Ranch Supply has several new items which have come in and that I need to let people know about.

We received three different styles of ladies shirts from Gypsy Soule and are now carrying some of their jewelry. Response has been positive and we hope to expand our offerings in this line.

We have also received three new styles from Danali Shirts (Cactus) which are constructed from some of the softest fabric I have ever seen. The prints are awesome and the material is too. Once again the response has been good and we hope to expand the line.

We just received the third style of flipflop from Grazie. This is somewhat different from the first two but I think that you will like the color and if you haven't tried Grazie yet, come by and slip into total softness. These are unbeatable flipflops and so far have been very popular with our customers.

We are expecting new shipments from Burt's Bees and Bullfrog sunscreens. We expect to receive these within the next ten days. Keep checking with us.

I also wanted to let everyone know that we are expanding our meat selections in the freezer. We now offer seasoned chicken breasts, turkey and buffalo. We are trying to bring in some local beef which is grass fed and expand our offerings of specialty meats. Come by and check out the meat freezer. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Just a wish for a safe and happy Fourth of July holiday for our customers and friends. Time has been speeding by here at Tucumcari Ranch Supply and I can't get over just how fast this summer is going.

We are still hoping for some moisture. Seems that there is a possibility for this weekend. Go figure, it's the 4th.

Well there are several new things at Tucumcari Ranch Supply that I need to bring to your attention, especially if you haven't been in the store in a while.

We have a new shipment of Haeffli's honey and we are expecting a new shipment of candy from Leslie's. It is simply amazing that those hot cinnamon suckers are so popular. We are also expecting new jewelry from Trisha Davis and new home decor items from Ganz.

But the summer is speeding by and the days are hot and sunny. Don't forget your Bull Frog sunscreen if you're planning on spending some time outdoors. We recommend it highly.

It is my new goal to keep you better informed about the goings on at Ranch Supply this month. All I can do is try.

Well June has arrived without much fanfare. Although it appears that the hot, windy days that typically mean June, will also be making their appearance this first week of June.

I wanted to let everyone know that stick horses and children's books are back in stock. We received a new supply today and invite you to come in and check these items out in the gift corner.

We also have two styles available in the new GRAZIE flip flops with a third style expected any day. These are comparable to Yellow Box and those girls who have bought them have indicated that they are well worth the money.

We also still have a great selection available in the greenhouse and want to let you know that the greenhouse will be open through the end of this month. We are offering new perennials which we have not carried before. Come by and check these out before they are gone.

Just a reminder that this weekend is the Mother Road Rally in Tucumcari. Please make plans to participate and support this group that works so hard to put this event on. If you get the chance, go out to the Fair Grounds and check out all the bikes which usually are on display at some point during the weekend.

We also want to encourage you come by and try Watson's BBQ if you haven't had the chance to yet. We believe that we offer the best bbq around. Well, we are all ready for this wind to stop blowing this spring. Even though the greenhouse is open and going strong, I still haven't really gotten with the program and finished my planting. There's just something about watching those beautiful plants fight for survival against those hot, strong winds whipping around the corner. I thank God that we haven't had any severe weather this spring, but I am still asking for rain, which I think we desperately need.

Things are getting rearranged at the store and we are cleaning up which we badly needed to do. Needless to say, that wind keeps the dust whirling and we tackle it everyday.

We want to give all the area graduates our best wishes and our continued encouragement to go for their dreams. Hard work and a strong spirit will help you reach your goals. Strive to be the best that you can be.

If you haven't tried Watson's BBQ yet, I want to invite you to come by this weekend and let us serve you some of the best bbq around. I am rather biased I must admit, but come by and try it for yourself. The menu offers something for everyone with beef brisket, pork ribs and sausage, and potato salad, pinto beans and corn on the cob. We even offer a choice for dessert.

It's been some time since we written on the blog and thought it might be a good idea to bring you up to date with what's been happening at TRS.

We have opened the seasonal greenhouse and plants and veggies of many varieties are now available for those interested. I love going into the greenhouse because of all the wonderful smells that reside there. If only the weather would cooperate, I would get started with my spring planting. Perhaps one day soon.

We have also entered into an agreement with Weather King portable buildings. We have several of their models on display across the street in the lot. Please feel free to come by and go through the buildings. These are well built and the financing available is great.

We have also started to bring in new items for spring and summer. These include jewelry from Trisha Walden and Cindy Smith. Clothing from Cowgirl and Cowboy Up and kids clothes from Carhartt.

We also received a shipment of children's books and cookbooks for adults. There are several titles in this group which will entertain the reader for long periods of time.

I promise that I will attempt to do a better job of keeping you current with what's happening at Tucumcari Ranch Supply. If you haven't taken the time to come by in a while, come by and visit with us so that we can show you all the new things at the store.

Tucumcari Ranch Supply has received several new items this week that we would like to share with you. We now carry the 'Clinging Cross", pendant necklaces and dog tags from Not So Plain Jane. These items have been very popular with our customers and are now back in stock.

Willow Tree has brought new angels to the line and we now have them in stock. These are very special gifts for a variety of topics and have great customer appeal. Come by and check out the new angels.

We have also received the new line of Westland painted ponies. These are new to the industry because the original "Painted Ponies" line have separated into two separate lines. These are collectible and are numbered. Come by and check out these new ponies.

We also have new jewelry from Trisha Walden and Cindy Smith. Both of these lines have new colors and styles for spring. If you need a dash of color in your wardrobe, come by and check out the new items.

Just a note to wish all our customers and friends a safe and happy Thanksgiving! We are very grateful for all the love and support we receive daily from our customers and friends. We enter this holiday season truly blessed and thankful for the opportunity to serve our customers.

Boy, have we been busy at Tucumcari Ranch Supply. Every day UPS brings more boxes of merchandise for the store. Christmas is creeping in slowly but very obviously with the tree and ornaments now up and ready for your shopping needs. We have new woven tops from Cowboy/Cowgirl Up and Farm Girl/Farm Boy. We also received some really cute aprons and niteshirts from Hatley which are really popular.

Today we put out clover honey from Haeffli's. We also received creamed and comb honey which is so - - - -o good. Come by and check this out.

New Mexico State University is offering a fall 2009 program titled "Living on the Land" Application deadline is October 30, 2009. These are evening classes scheduled from November, 2009 - January, 2010. The cost of the class is $150 and the class size is limited to 25. Annual Field Day

NM State Agricultural Science Center at Tucumcari will host their annual Field Day on Thursday, August 6, 2009. Registration will start at 4:30 p.m. at the center with dinner to follow at 5:30 p.m.

The program will start at 6:00 p.m. and will feature Tim Farmer, District Supervisor of District VII New Mexico Office of the State Engineer. The topic will be "Water Rights 101".

The Hay Wagon Tour of the center will start at 6:45 p.m.

There are several topics which will be covered during the Hay Wagon Tour, all of which are of interest to local farmers and ranchers.

She has picked out several very nice items for their new home and has selected the True West pattern for their dishes. We will wrap your gift and deliver it to the shower for you.

Hi Everyone!!

We hope that everyone enjoyed the showers that we had off and on yesterday! Hopefully there is more on its way!

If you haven't been down to the store lately you should come down and have a look at some of our new merchandise. This week we brought in a few pieces of bright, fun pieces for summer. There are necklace/earring sets, earrings, bracelets and watches. If your dining room is feeling a little bland these days you can spruce it up with some of our new placemats and table runners that just came in.

Don't forget that this Sunday is Father's Day! Come down and check out our gifts for dad! We have power tools, tack, and clothes.. and if your dad has everything you can always get him one of our gift certificates so he can pick out what he wants.

If your gonna be in town this weekend don't forget to check out the Mother Road Rally: Party on Route 66!!!! This will be the 6th annual Mother Road Rally and there will be live entertainment with vendors, a beer garden, poker run, biker games, and nightime entertainment. Admission to view the car and bike show, vender expo. and beer garden will be free. The events start Friday at noon at the Quay County Fairgrounds and run through Saturday night.
